Richard Wischnowski is our new Rotary Community Leader. This position is our liaison to the inaugural Rotary Pacific Community Group, a part of the Rotary Zone 8 regionalisation pilot.
Born in March 1946, Richard has a background in education, having been a teacher for 35 years. He joined the Marton Rotary Club in 2006 and has since held various leadership positions, including club president and area governor. His passion for youth exchange has been a significant aspect of his Rotary involvement.
The regionalisation pilot is a response to declining membership and energy in Rotary clubs. It aims to revitalise clubs by transitioning to Rotary Community Groups (RCGs), which will be supported by Rotary Community Leaders (RCLs). These RCLs will facilitate the creation and implementation of growth plans tailored to each club’s needs.
As a RCL, Richard's role is to act as a facilitator, partner and coach for clubs, helping them recognise their needs and achieve growth. The role emphasises the importance of collaboration, planning and adapting to new approaches. The pilot is a work in progress, with a focus on increasing impact, expanding reach, enhancing engagement, and improving the ability to adapt.
The regionalisation effort is about stepping out of comfort zones and embracing new methods to foster growth and success within the Rotary community. The plan includes increasing impact, expanding reach, enhancing engagement, and adapting to new challenges.
